Call for Papers:
South Asia: Transitions, Tribulations and Triumphs
South Asia was home to one of the world’s great ancient civilizations, the Indus Valley Civilization. Today South Asia is once again poised to become a world leader. The intervening 5,000 years have witnessed a remarkable story filled with transitions, tribulations and triumphs of the human spirit in every sphere of endeavor – political, economic, social and cultural. The SASA 2009 conference seeks to explore South Asia’s myriad pasts, understand her present, and look forward to a future full of promise and hope yet inevitably characterized by still more transitions, tribulations and triumphs. We invite papers from across the academic disciplines and over all periods of time that address this rich tapestry that is South Asia past, present and future.
The deadline for submitting proposal abstracts to the progrm chair, Dr. Chandrika Kaul (program@sasia.org), is November 30, 2008. Visit the SASA website for additional details: http://www.sasia.org. Presenters of accepted proposals must pre-register within six weeks of receiving the acceptance notification or they will be deleted from the final program. Because of budget and administrative constraints, SASA is not in a position to offer refunds.
Academic groups sharing compatible interests are encouraged to co-locate with us. Send an email to info@sasia.org to initiate a dialogue.
Please review the Guidelines page for information on expectations of presenters and moderators. Presenters are encouraged to consider publishing their work in one of the ASPAC online journals, E-ASPAC and ASPAC Papers.
