Dr. Laurie Patton, Charles Howard Candler Professor and Professor of Early Indian Religion, Emory University, delivers the opening plenary address, “A Contemporary Mother: Sanskrit and the Feminine in Present Day India.”

Dr. Harold A. Gould, Professor Emeritus, University of Illinois, delivers the Friday plenary luncheon address, “America’s Half Century Struggle to Control the Political Agenda in South Asia.”

I am back home now and recalling all good memories of the conference. I am really thankful to you for providing me an opportunity to exchange my views with scholars of the world in a congenial environment. I congratulate you and your team for conducting an informative conference.  I really appreciate your effort for plenary sessions that were amazing and interesting.  I wish you for conducting more interesting international conferences in future. Deshpande

Chitra and Anil Deshpande receive the 2009 SASA award for support of South Asian Studies.  The Desphande’s provided the seed money for the University of Central Florida’s India Program which hosted the 2009 SASA Annual Conference.
